It was a month for the machines, prepping beds, and starting with some cool season crops!

Our new Potato Lifter helped us harvest 804 pounds of Potatoes in 3 hours! This same task took 2-3 days of manual digging each season.

June has been the start of our harvest and we are excited to share!

Turner Construction volunteered time and donated $2,000 to help the Rows build a vertical garden.

We are installing fence to cover two acres to prevent pest (deer, rabbits, etc…) and expand our growing space. Materials arrived and we just started the install.
January Update: Winter Cover Crop
Our cover crop is growing nicely and we are starting our seed selection.
6,487 lbs of Produce Donated and Still Harvesting…
As of August 15, 2021, here at Rows for the Hungry, we have been able to grow and donate 5,200 pounds of food to the MCFOODS food bank, Elijah’s Promise Community Kitchen, and various other places.
Spotlight on Feeding Middlesex County
Feeding Middlesex County financially supports organizations that feed the hungry.
They raise funds to purchase food and equipment to assist qualifying agencies in procuring, storing, preserving and transporting food and other necessary items to their food insecure neighbors, through MCFOODS, the county food bank.

We have electrical wiring completed and are currently installing the four inches of insulation on the floor, walls, and ceiling.
The Endless Fascination of Heirloom Plants
Heirloom plants are plants with a history. The seeds are passed down from generation to generation. Many made their way from distant lands, sewn in the hems of of clothing immigrants wore on their journey here. It must have provided comfort looking forward to growing familiar foods in their new homeland. Until the 1930s sharing and selling these heirloom seeds were the primary ways farmers and gardeners procured and planted their crops.
