September Update at the Garden

The faithful volunteers at the Rows for the Hungry were recognized through an award given to Miriam O’Hare. We’re honored to have REPLENISH and Feeding Middlesex County recognize Miriam O’Hare for her amazing work with Rows for the Hungry as a Middlesex County 2023 Community Hunger Hero. Miriam O’Hare, along with all of the dedicated and hard working Rows for the Hungry volunteers, received this recognition at last night’s Middlesex County Board of Commissioner meeting. Congratulations to Miriam and fellow volunteers who have put so much time, effort, and sweat into this project to provide first quality produce to the food insecure of Middlesex County.

Our new Potato Lifter helped us harvest 804 pounds of Potatoes in 3 hours! This same task took 2-3 days of manual digging each season. Check out a video of the Potato Lifter in action here.

In early September, SEWA volunteers volunteered in the garden. They helped us harvest over 500 pounds of tomatoes, squash, zucchini and onions.
