Trailer Converted To Refrigerator Part 1

The Master Gardeners of Middlesex County are excited to share that we started a creative endeavor to convert a discarded trailer into a refrigerator. This will help alleviate stress with harvesting and distributing fresh produce. Sometimes, a crop is ready for harvest but the scheduled pick-up will be several days later. Instead of a last minute chaos to store the produce nor leaving the produce to over grow, we can harvest and immediately store in a refrigerator.

Today we removed old screws/debris and laid a new plywood floor. It took about four hours but looks great!

We are inspired by N.C. State’s “Pack N Cool” system.

We want to extend our gratitude to Home Depot of South Brunswick for their donation of the plywood, insulation, and air conditioner.

Part two will be the insulation installation and Part three will be the air conditioner installation and final details.
